What makes us the best international school of Tunis?
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides nurture and high-quality structured education for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 5, so that they are able to develop in a happy and caring environment.
In all divisions technology is carefully incorporated into the curriculum to help deepen students’ understanding of subjects and foster excitement as they create, problem solve and collaborate – whilst along the way becoming inquisitive learners and responsible digital citizens.
An international school
The British Curriculum provides benefits for British expatriate families moving abroad.
It allows for an easy transition back into the UK system whilst preserving a culturally familiar approach to learning. Moreover, since our teachers have Qualified Teacher Status (UK) and the school is inspected within the framework laid out by the British Government for British Schools Overseas, parents can be confident that their children will achieve levels that meet internationally recognised standards.
British education, at both school and university level, has achieved a worldwide reputation for quality.
We encourage children’s physical development by providing opportunities for them to be active and interactive, improving their skills of coordination, control manipulation and movement.
Our aim is to create lifelong learners with a passion for knowledge and adventure, fully equipped to meet the challenges of a dynamic world.
BIST is about providing the best possible education one that creates lifelong learners with a passion for knowledge and adventure, fully equipped to meet the challenges of a dynamic world.
We welcome people of all nations and backgrounds and strongly believe that a school thrives most by engaging with its local community to celebrate the rich historical, cultural and social resources to be found on our doorstep.
Between the ages of 3-19 children are taught using the UK National Curriculum. This is divided into Early Years Foundation Stage and 5 Key Stages. In addition, the BIST curriculum provides special attention to the diversity and heritage of our location.
Principles and values are actively promoted in an atmosphere of mutual respect, ensuring tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions. (from ISI Inspection Report November 2018)
Our vision of technology is to support our culture of innovation, creativity and collaboration by providing access to technology that empowers students to be self-directed, responsible and adaptable learners in our global and interconnected world – anytime and anywhere.
The children's creativity is extended by supporting their curiosity, exploration and play. We provide opportunities for children to explore and share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of art, music, imaginative and role play activities.
Pupils thrive within the inclusive sense of community that is modelled by caring leadership and management and permeates throughout the school. (from ISI Inspection Report November 2018)
The quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent. Pupils in the primary school have excellent levels of self-esteem and self-confidence and are happy to express themselves in a wide range of situations. (from ISI Inspection Report November 2018)
Pupils of all ages are extremely clear about the need to stay safe and readily follow and suggest suitable strategies both in and out of school. (from ISI Inspection Report November 2018)
Being part of the BIST family is about providing the best possible education – one that creates lifelong learners with a passion for knowledge and adventure, fully equipped to meet the challenges of a dynamic world. By using outstanding teachers, experts in their field, we provide an exciting, challenging and hugely rewarding education. We inspire them to take any opportunity that comes their way and encourage them to embrace experiences, learn from each other, and to be inspired by those great people who influenced the history of the world through writing, politics, music, art, sport, poetry and science.
At the BIST Primary School, we have strived to create a learning environment that is lively, fun and challenging, with a classroom atmosphere that generates a real enthusiasm for learning. Our aim is to build a strong foundation, not just in the academic sense, but also to further the creative, aesthetic, and moral development of your child. We want to develop high-achieving pupils, but also kind and caring children, who will be able to flourish through all areas of their lives, both during their time at BIST and beyond.
BIST follows the English National Curriculum. We use international and local context to enhance teaching and learning to perfectly suit the students. With this in mind, we have handcrafted an innovative, challenging and stimulating programme to develop the students’ skills and to lay down the foundations needed to prepare them for the Key Stage 4 GSCE programme. Following on from Key Stage 4, we will again follow the English National Curriculum and take them through the UK’s A-Level pathway, one of the most internationally renowned qualifications for that age group, to give them the best leg up into further education, be that in Tunisia or around the world.
